Hi there, for some reason just by playing a lot I reached the champions league and currently I'm #11 how come? I don't think I'm good at chess, I arrived #4 to a blitz tournament but I didn't put a lot of efforts I swear I'm crap and there's something wrong, I can't believe I'm good please check my account https://www.chess.com/member/hermitemperor

U don't need to win much to be in champion league.... it's just the number of games....for example u played 100games in a day and won 55 of them and lost the rest, then u got a lot of points

I have less matches than you, this just doesn't make sense either

League placement is just about how many wins you have in the relevant time frame:

So it's more about how much you play rather than how well you play.

It's absolutely about how much do you play. I'm in legend with 600 elo. Got there playing 3 min blitz which has the best points/time ratio.

It also comes down to how active other players in your division are.

Yeah, when leagues were first released, everyone was playing a lot more games and it was a lot harder to finish in the top places to move up to the next league,. Once that initial frenzy died down, you could win one of the top places with a lot fewer points than before.

The OP made it into the Champion League with 559 points - when I finally thought I'd give it a go, the 3rd place finisher had 846 points

559 points would have finished in 11th place.

If I'd tried to get into the Champion league as soon as I got into the one below it and got the same points, I wouldn't have made it in:

so it's about the right momentum
