If someone wants to make money all u have to do is start a chess site and give out titles with membership. There is no "official" chess organization. Anyone can start a chess organization and give out master or gm titles for a small membership fee.
I want a title

FIDE has already set out the guidelines in how one should go about achieving and performing to get their titles, these are the recognised titles, as someone mentioned earlier you have to sign and participate in their tournaments to get an offical rating and once you reach a certain level they bestow upon you a title to reflect your skill level and success.
If you seriously want "lower ranked patzer titles" then perhaps contact FIDE personally and reason with them, and I'm sure we can all agree anyone else without a title is any of the following: "Strong, Intermediate, Weak, Experienced Novice, Beginner, Novice, Checkers-player."

FIDE and USCF are not "offiicial" organizations in that they are not recognized by any government as such. They are private organizations and can do as they like. But there is nothing to stop a US citizen from setting up his own private organization and awarding Master and Grandmaster titles to anyone he likes. Maybe professional players, tournament directors and the like may not recognize such titles, nonetheless they may have some value to ordinary people such as you or me. For example there is a church that exists in the State of Washington, they have filed all the papers they need tobe accepted as a legal church. They ordain ministers and issue honorary degrees of all kinds to whoever sends them money. I am an ordained minister and a Doctor of Divinity, for example, because I sent them a few dollars. I can legally perform weddings, and do all kinds of ceremonies, legally. Also people show me deference because of my titles. So why cannot this chess site, or any other chess site or organization charge a small membership fee and hand out titles? It may not be enough to get someone into a tournament but it would be fun!

There are also FIDE titles for arbiters, organizers, trainers, and instructors. Anatoly Karpov is FIDE Ambassador for Life.
Perhaps the OP could apply for FIDE Cable Guy or FIDE Burger Flipper.

I have long advocated something similar. However, since we are all fish when it comes to chess, the categories should reflect that notion, e.g. Guppy, Minnow, Clown Fish, Blowfish, Flounder.

A bit naive on my part for not stating the OBVIOUS, lol yes FIDE is an independant private organization, FIDE just seems to be the place where everyone flocks to.
It would be cool if another system was "born" and we choose our own titles.
This forum carried a theme of an old parable/idiom "I want....", need more focus on "I need...".

Some very interesting comments and as some have said I do not see why we can't have titles as this site isn't FIDE or any "official" body its just a website and some fun. We can give each other trophies so why not titles?
Most multiplayer games (eg Modern Warfare) have titles (eg prestige) where you can level up. It would be nice if we had the option (maybe blue or green not red for unofficial titles) of titles so that we could show off our accomplishments.

This is a good point.

Since this is all in fun, one definition of "bait" is to tease. Another is to lure or entice, especially by trickery or strategy (good chess things).
It is cool to be Master of something, how about Master Baiter?

I'm sure that nearly everyone in the world deserves that title.

If everyone has easy to get titles they stop having any significance. Its kind of like everyone calling themselves doctor or master of such and such, after a while it has no meaning or elevated standing in society.
You can call yourself Dr. without actually being a doctor. Just ask Dr. Dre.

The world would be a better place if that were the case!

I want two super models who love fat bald chess players. If the OP gets a title, I don't think this is too much to ask for.
is this a troll forum? XD
