I want to become a better chess player. What kind of games should I be playing? Currently I am playing 10 min blitz games. Is this too quick of a game? Or too long of a game? Can you become good at one type of timed game and as a consequence become worse at others. Can a person become a great chess player from playing only 1 min bullet games? Should newer players avoid certain games?

I appreciate any help on this matter.

Avoid bullet chess. Study chess from books.
