don't thank us, thank g-star for putting it together!
I want to thank Erik and Chess.com
I REALLY enjoyed watching him play and getting an idea of how the other GMs think. I agreed with what Judit Polgar said about the "confusion with too many chefs in the kitchen". It was bound to be the nature of it with each of them having to constantly rethink their own position as black.
Anyway, this was promoted through Chess.com, even if it was G-Star who put it together. I thoroughly enjoy this site, and being a skeptic, I believe all G-Star was doing was cleverly advertising and promoting their product, not necessarily chess :) It was a lot of fun (minus the glitches), regardless of the who and why! And what a penthouse view, huh?
I also had a lot of fun with the match, despite some problems the second hour with non-refreshing screens, having to reload the page etc. Overall it was a good time and I'd definitely sign on to watch and participate in another event. Thanks chess.com for your part in it!
Maybe it's been reported elsewhere-- are there any figures for how many people were watching and/or voting during the match? All I saw was the estimates from before the event started.

I remember Mark saying something like 44,000ish, but I don't know what he was looking at for that info while we were watching the match. I'm sure there's some way that erik or someone knows.
Congrats on such a tremendously successful site! I love what you guys have made it into and I only wish you more success in the future.
I think they talked (bought) Liv Tyler into showing up.
Wasn't her appearance an embarrassment? You'd think she could have spent 10 seconds to find out beforehand who the 3 teamed Grandmasters were. I'm glad no one followed up with questions when she kept talking about how much she used to play chess. I have a feeling we would have gotten a response like when the South Carolina blond tried to answer why people can't read maps.
I actually enjoyed it better than I thought I would. I'm not a fan of the voting for the 3 GM suggestions thing but it was still fun nevertheless. Rensch was great! Ashley and Kasparov were also entertaining.
I got the biggest kick out of Kasparov. He was actually making me laugh sometimes, and I love his easy-going way, especially considering chess is an intense game. Very likeable.
And Rensch was cracking me up too. I felt so bad for him 'cause he was trying to do his job, was taking it seriously, was totally into it and the site kept locking up. G-Star couldn't handle the influx of hits, for sure. I wonder why it couldn't have been G-Star sponsored but actually held on the Chess.com site instead. It probably would've gone much more smoothly, right? It was still fun overall though!

For promoting and having this event and including all of us here. Once I found out about this event, I was so psyched and pumped up. I began studying Carlsen's games on a PGN that I downloaded that has almost every one of his games included in it. I took this very seriously. I wrote the moves down on paper, moved the pieces on my chess set that I had by my side, and entered the PGN into Chessmaster and Fritz.
Yes it was a technical nightmare on some level, but instead of getting angry like some initially did, we have to remember something like this is not easy to set up. So on behalf of myself and my girlfriend, I want to thank you and your staff for bringing this event to us. Thank you
