I have played chess for about 40 year off and on and frankly I'm not a very good player. However, I love the strategic art of chess. It is absolutely beautiful so I study games between masters, because I appreciate the sport of chess. Do you believe that elite chess matches can only attract strong players as FANS regardless if basic or even advanced tactics and strategy are shared with mainstream society who do not aspire to improve their chess play but rather watch great chess play. What is interesting about my attitude towards chess is also somewhat ironic. When I am a chess fan I evaluate the chess board holistically with a neutral perspective. I anticipate both players moves pretty accurately. However, as a player I often ignore and underestimate my opponents moves thus I make CARELESS BLUNDERS. Perhaps, I was not meant to be a GREAT player but a spectator who can enjoy the strategic art of chess in a match between masters or grandmasters.
