I'm interested in maybe knowing the KID a bit better so was thinking a book on that .. and maybe something maybe tactics or middle game strategy... if anyone wanted to take a look over some of my games and make a suggestion that would be really awesome.. just my longer rapid time control games as others I don't concentrate as much.

In terms of the classics on strategy Zurich 1953 & My System are the best. For newer stuff Silman.

Wow thanks for the suggestions.. I actually have my system should give it a full read and I actually have some silman books.. they're huge so I find them slightly intimidated by them hahah same with the other books I'm trying to get into.. the life and games of tal and Fischers 60 greatest games.. I definitely want to check out this book on Zurich 1953 .. also will look into logical chess move by move

Fundamental chess endings by Karsten Muller.

It is a big book explaining many many kind of endings, from the most basics to the very advanced.

It is very well done and I have been learning interesting stuff from it. Also, I saw a video of Magnus Carlsen playing against a dude and that same book was next to Carlsen.

So, it is not that bad wink.png

Binkzilla

yah, logical chess move by move is really what sparked my interest in chess!

The idea of a tournament book is very cool and I actually don't have one.. Do they have a version of the Zurich 1953 with algebraic notation?

The Mammoth Book of Worlds Greatest Chess Games is both very instructive and nice in your book shelf.

I have this, fantastic. Sadly the spine is broken and it's in 3 pieces after copious re-reading and playing through of games.

2q1c,, have you read that book?? since we like hard books to read, have fun with laskers chessmagazine volume 2. reading advanced books leads to an annoyed reader, i think silmans book would be less frustrating .... unless ur advanced, leave the others alone.

I will after I finish reading John Watsons the French. So far memorized a quarter of it so shouldnt take me longer than 12 months to master that opening completely.

Chess Structures - A Grandmaster Guide by GM Mauricio Flores Rios (2015)
"There is also masses of stuff in the book that made me go 'Oooh!' and 'Aaah!' so I think it will have the same effect on you! In particular, I loved Rios' exposition of White's plan of exerting queenside pressure against Hedgehog systems. I'd seen one of the games he quotes in his chapter but I'd never remotely made any link to a structured way of fighting the Hedgehog structure, so this chapter was a real eye-opener for me ... In conclusion, warmly recommended. Lots to learn!" - GM Matthew Sadler
The Power of Pawns by GM Jörg Hickl (2016)
"The didactic concept of the book is admirable. Each chapter defines the structures, explains the typical characteristics and shows the plans for both White and Black. The reader participates by assessing positions and invariably receives useful tips for practical play." - FM Harry Schaack
