Currently an 1800 rated player. I suspect I play too much and study too little. I'm going to stop playing until I am a 2k rated player. Easy. Shouldn't take me longer than a few months then I can get back to drinking that sweet nectar that is blitz.
How am I going to know when I am 2k is a solid question.
Also that is 2k as an online rating. I completely understand that is not as achieveable OTB.

I am still going to do what I said. There wasn't a need to publicly state it. Another useless thread cluttering up the forums seeking attention I suppose. I think it's as simple as studying is an isolating endeavour and it was a way to engage myself with others.
I will play when I reach my goal. It's all about self improvement my friend. I have stagnated for too long. That said, impressing others is nice feedback for your work and usually helps you focus on achieving more.
Plus there is much more to this site than playing games. This forum is one of the biggest things going for the site. It also has a plethora of educational material.
I'm not sure why you are upset but I like the energy. I am also not sure at what point I said I was 2000. If anything, I am a person pretending to be a person who wants to be a 2k rated player. In fact, I explicitly stated I was an 1800 player.

Mostly. I also haven't played a game on this account yet. So I don't have that need to improve my rating as I haven't "established" one yet.
@darkhorsejames that's exactly it. I am finally building an opening repertoire. For the longest time I played with the knowledge of about three moves for any opening. Sometimes I was able to gain some mysterious advantage in the opening but more often then not, I either lost in the first 10 moves or was a piece down. I am planning on studying 1.d4 as my weapon for white and an opening for 1.d4 and 1.e4 as black. I figure once I commit the concepts and some essential move orders I'll see a significant boost in my rating. I also plan to devour a few books on tactics, strategy and such through some of the popular books I see popping up on the forums again and again. I really believed I didn't need much opening theory but once I started studying it I realized something pecular. When you have an understanding of a standard opening there are these "thematic games" that occur. It blew me away.
