@EvainWahter. If chess.com rating is 200-300 higher than OTB, myself and other thousands of  2000+ in chess.com will be FM/IM.  LMAO,. Dont get delusion! Accept the truth (Online rating is in fact 200-300 bogus than OTB, Google yourself) . I am not attacking you,but just sharing the truth. It is up to you whether you accept it or not. Your chess.com rating is 1200, so I am again guessing your OTB is 1000!! cry.png

Check the rating of top players! Carlsen, Nakamura and others have  3000+, 3100+ online bullet , blitz . In fact their OTB is 2800+ and they will never get those bogus rating OTB.!

EvianWahter

YOUR are an idiot i am attacking you. I know my rating dumbass. I am telling you that your lack of understanding is why you plateau . QUALITY AND QUANTITY. YOU ARE WAY BETTER IN YOUR MIND THAN YOU ACTUALLY ARE YOUR PROJECTION IS UNRELENTLESS. IVE BEEN PLAYin CHESS FOR 12 Months HARD . YOU MAKE NO SENSE EVERYONE PLAYED BAD AT ONE TIME. MANAGING EXPERIENCE IS THE KEY CHESS.COM P{LAYERS PLAY WHERE I SLACK THAT IS ALL MY RATING WILL CLIMB I JUST HAVE TO MAKE THE TIME FOR THIS LAGGING TURD CALLED CHESS.com YOU WILL CLIMB FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE TO GM IT WILL TAKE ME LESS THAN 4.

@EvianWahter, if his logic is true, i am afraid, your real rating is , 1200-500= 700. Too far away from your OTB rating claim of 1700! LMAO. wink.pngcry.png

My online rating measures my progress more, and is higher than my cfc rating now. mostly because I get to play more people whereas I only play once a week otb so it takes forever for it to go anywhere

EvianWahter

Jonathanmaxwell Thank You for your Valuable Comment. These guys just neglect an an important factor of experience. Quantity is just as valuable as Quality. You hit quality and stay at quality or you move to Impressive. THATS YOUR OTB. JONATHAN keep playing online and focus in on your weaknesses by looking over wins and losses. Eventually your "real rating" will surprize you. Bet....

i guess it depends on how much you use calculation in your online games - in OTB at some point you will be forced to calculate deep lines if you wanna win a game, while in online blitz a lot of games can be won just using intuition and chess reflexes, combined with quick play. It's really easy to lose long play games if you just go with the flow the way you do in online blitz, but if you can adapt your way of thinking the ratings should be about the same, maybe +-100elo

opawnent

some players are way higher rated online, cause their intuition is just very good - like hikaru rarely even stops to calculate, he almost always knows the best moves by heart. This makes him very strong in quick play, especially online. however, a gm that gets crushed by hikaru online, has better chances OTB, if he uses his time wisely and calculates the lines well enough

of course im comparing online blitz with OTB classical. i dont know much about online standard or correspondence games - the ratings probably arent that accurate cause of massive amount of engine use.

AntonioEsfandiari

online ratings are entirely unpredictable and they will fluctuate and be distorted, you should never take your online rating too seriously, you should play over the board chess at your chess club or with a meetup group on a regular basis it is very healthy for your mentality and you can actually see and feel your improvement as opposed to speculating on the huge swings of online ratings

My Fide rating = 0

MyChess.com rating blitz/bullet=2000

Difference is ' 2000-0=2000'

Conclusion, chess.com is 2000 overrated for me.

Lippy-Lion

My rating on here are around the same as OTB they seem fairly accurate, more accurate than ICC at least which has lower ratings than OTB

EvianWahter

Antonio has got it playing otb will help very much. I do believe though that with enough dedication your online rating can become accurate. Experience management. Though most people are "inexperienced" In both senses thus their ratings are inflated. Look at magnus carlsens account he is 3000 thousand  that like 140 difference. Some times it goes up dsometimes it goes down his online rating has become accurate. Although that man knows all the tricks to win so of course his can go way high, like it has thats why he is world champion. The raiting determines success

I got a fide rating 1600 and my chess.com rating is also 1600+-.

I agree with the comments on this thread stating that FIDE OTB and chess.com ratings are not exactly comparable as people probably don't take chess.com very seriously (or at least not too seriously) whereas they probably take FIDE OTB games relatively seriously.

But in case you were wondering, for me, as of right now:

Chess.com Blitz = 2131 (Peak: 2269)

FIDE Standard OTB = 1942 (Peak:2007)

FIDE Blitz OTB = 2048 (Peak: 2100)
