Im just saying it would be optional, in a game it could add another angle, there are situations where your own pawns are a detriment and if you could remove it you could have more lines of attack. In war we have traitors, we also in chess have traitor pawns...

obviously sometimes allowing a in pass capture to open a line is the same thing..

How about a chess variant where everything happens on diagonals and the goal is basically to force captures until the board empties?
How crazy chess could be if I could remove my own pawn in certain circumstances.
