If a higher rated player offers you a draw do not always take it!

I put an okay pin but it is easily dealt with, be sure to look over your moves before accepting.

You know, for a guy who posts this really nice owning of a minor error by an NM and says "How can I prove this wasn't cheating?" posting this game doesn't seem especially wise.  For instance, in this game you missed 21 Re6 which completely owns black.  That was lots easier to see than the sequence you played in that game against James.

This game started a while ago so I've probably improved during the course of the game but I saw Rc3 for easy queen. I don't know how he didnt see it.

Also, it was thematic and I've never done that opening before so I'm sure my opening moves were terrible!

and I decimated his pawn structure and he moved his king around move 12. If I hadn't pinned myself with the queen I think I would have won easy. I'll check it in Houdini when I get home.

Never take a draw from a higher rated player.  If they're offering one to you, it means they're worse.

You have never played the Scotch game before?  It's like the world's most common beginner opening that can be played at the very highest levels as well.

Nope, I usually go 3. Bb5 I enjoyed that tournament though as it opened a new opening for me. I really wish I could take back 10. e5 though. I had such better structure and he had double pawns and threw it all away.
