If a queen, a king, a knight, a bishop, and a pawn are people, what is a rook?

If the designers of Chess pieces wanted them to represent cannons , etc., wouldn’t every ordinary Joe like me get a bit confused because they look like castles

I can't post pics or addresses yet, but if you google you can see holes for cannons. Look up "embrasure".

This is a question that I've been asking myself ever since I've been 12 however to answer my own question and yours as well, as it's a building as opposed to live beings like the other pieces, I guess they have tried to make the castle a live being too by calling it a rook? In literal terms a rook is a large black bird that would potentially sit atop of the castle to embrace its own territory? So the bird is then what makes the castle a live piece like the others?

Even if I'm incorrect I still stand my own theory nonetheless

But when I look up "marquess" it doesn't show the person is a fighter, just a leader.

You don't know about the Marquess of Queensberry.

That is just some guy who endorsed the rules of boxing. It doesn't mean the name was directly associated with boxing.
