If you need the materials that cover BorgQueen's examples, consider the Comprehensive Chess Endings series by Yuri Averbakh which are out-of-print and expensive!

Comprehensive Chess Endings: Bishop Against Knight Endings Rook Against Minor Piece Endings

Comprehensive Chess Endings: Bishop Endings : Knight Endings

Comprehensive Chess Endings: Queen and Pawn Endings, Queen Against Rook Endings, Queen Against Minor Piece Endings

I can understand why it wouldn't cover B+N vs. K (although it seems worth covering for the sake of completeness), but I'm surprised it doesn't cover QvR. That one seems very valuable.

No, I think the pagination restriction was lifted for threads, and now only applies to search results -- this is evident by the two threads that are a full order of magnitude lengthier than this one.

The endgame is the very first thing I was taught. Am I wrong to reccomend studying endgame before any other chess theory?

bgangioni

Thanks! I'm certainly glad to know it.

'cause that's what I've been telling everyone for a long, long time. =P

Sadly, the longest thread that has the most number of posts that I've seen is called "Word Association by Wayne79 #2" with 6,590 plus posts (6x only). Yell

I just realized that endgame technical prowess is all for naught unless you can bring the game to an endgame that is favorable to YOU from the middlegame.

EDIT: After some endgame study, you may want to review the theories, books, videos and software that should help you in the middlegame like planning, imbalances and even the advice in this thread for strategic positions.

And now for the old cliche: "When you get to a winning endgame, the rest will be a matter of technique Cool ...just don't lose on time." Tongue out

You didn't click the link then.  "word association" is clearly the biggest spam thread here.

I didn't bother anymore.

Curious: How come the thread for "if you know" does not come up in the "More recent posts" area after someone posts something new in it. Is it a chess.com glitch or a setting that the OP can set?

kco

because is under the 'off-topic' thread

xqsme

word association by wayne 79 #1 reached about 11,368... which rightfully could be added to #2 figure now.

Borgqueen, do you think if Borg will ever try to assimulate kurogkug? Or would it be futile? Sorry if someone already asked that, the thread is soo long

kurogkug: I KNOW...

that there is another set of Fritz Trainer videos that you can use for your computer-based endgame training:

Dr. Karsten Mueller Endgames Vol 1 to 5

EDIT: Yes, he is the co-author of the advanced endgame tome, Fundamental Chess Endgames, that I recommended earlier.

EDIT: Are you suffering from information overload yet? Wink Wait until you crack open one of those books! Cry

What would be his new designation, BQ?

kurogkug would make a good philosopher.

Philosophers are supposed to ask questions, right?

I don't know...

Most of the philosophers I've studied, provided answers with their questions. And I don't know wether it's the philosophers themselves, or their followers, that seem to be rather stubborn in believing those are the right answers. Or, at least, the closest to the truth.

You are really only supposed to post in this thread "If You Know." Or if you are kurogkug.
