If you were an excellent game player and wanted to play a game of maximal length ...

I assume it would be at least good sportsmanship to inform your "opponent" what your goal was. ... but I believe there are other reasons why one may not desire to figuratively "show their cards".

Yes, it is an interesting conundrum ... what would you do if you were already an almost undeniable champion at Chess, but still wanted to play and maintain it as a challenge ... should you feel a need to inform your "opponent" that you might even be master at Chess?

Well, I assume, at a minimum, there is some sort of respect or consideration that one should give to an "opponent" .... even if it was just a quick 'thank you for your time and investment into the game' ... yes, it is almost true that the people that 'do the ground work' are actually the Kings or Queens and the games can be considered almost irrelevant 🙏

...*slight pause* Oh yes, and if you might be wondering ... You guessed correctly, yes, I am slightly drunk at the moment 🙏 ... congratulations Sir or Ma'am 🥳  Great job ans I am happy you are still here *quick wave*  Cya next time!

=) Yeah, it's probably been at least a few days since I posted wink.png

Oh, and no need to alert the media - I'm already on their radar 🎯

I was thinking about the post later and was thinking of possible variants of that the could still be a fun challenge and not be particularly annoying an opponent - for example, you could open with a knight and then play the rest of the game with a personal vow to never move it again ... sort of like playing the game as if some other piece in the game was your "real king"

... but I admit that it would probably be pretty annoying to play against someone who was very good at chess and they just wanted to mess around and make the game go crazy and last forever etc. ... it might have been best for me not to mention the idea but, oh well, drunk moments happen grin.png

It's ok, Butter, no need to stress over it.  We grow and move on.  Best wishes.
