If Your Losing, Don't Offer a Draw

My opponent lost his last major piece- the queen. It was the lone king vs. pawns, a rook, and a queen. When he/she blundered the queen, they offered a draw, obviously, I declined. A few inches later, after shuffling our pieces around and being pushed to the edge, they offered another draw. Than another.

When you are losing, please do not offer a draw! It's impolite to offer a draw so the other player doesn't win. If you don't want your opponent to win, find a way to force it into a stalemate or the 50 Move rule. Please respect your opponent no matter how higher or lower rated they are. No matter if they are losing or winning.

Do people really do that? How rude! People should be polite and just resign. If they don't want to resign, like you said, force it into a stalemate. I think it's really disrespectful to offer draws so they don't lose.

i had this ( most likely a kid) ask me non stop to resign because his cat is sick an dying. that was back at 700 rating. im working really hard to get out of the idiot pool LOL i see why people disable chat though.

I offer a draw if an idiot player has purposefully killed all the valuable pieces only leaving pawns to chase each other around the board.

thats... how you win....

Nah I don’t want to waste my time on that. Pawn v Pawn chess? I’d rather shoot myself in the stomach.

Suit yourself :/

Haha, that's so funny. "My cat is sick and dying so resign" It's not gonna help his so-called dead cat.

Yea literally I would rather sever my own leg with a rusty banjo than have to waste my time with crumbs of a game. Especially in blitz chess. I’ll offer a draw and if they don’t accept they can have the win. When the time runs out.

Yes I agree bad form

Mariba66

This happens to me quite often as well. Really annoying. I block them as soon as the game has finished.

This happened before even when my opponent wasn't losing, but I can tell that he/she was doing so in order to win me by time. I won in the end (instant karma moment lol) but it was very annoying.

if you R losing AND your opponent is low on time, he will probably accept

BUT YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN, SO WHY

The endgame in chess is an important part of chess, and though you may not like playing it, that still isn't a good reason to offer draw in a losing position or stall the game (which is actually against rules).

I believe that if you are losing you either play on to stalemate or resign from the game with dignity.

That is a terrible act of gamesmanship.

Another thing I've had in anonymous - and therefore unrated - games, is when I'm ahead in the game, like a pawn or a knight advantage, but the game lasts longer than expected and I have to leave. I offer a draw even though I'm in a winning position as some sort of ritual of good manners. I understand some of them decline because they feel like they can win, but it just doesn't feel right. Either way I just leave after offering the draw because hey I have to leave.
