TASS, the Russian news agency, said it was an attempt to oust him, that he didn't sign anything and the Americans are behind it. He is subject of a travel ban as part of broader sanctions against Russia and some individuals because of the Ukraine situation.
According to Ilyum... he'll step down if needed. No resignation has been made. False headline by the OP

I made the post before the denial was public, i added that shortly after, when it was...
Ilyum... has Not resigned. Get your facts straight. Someone from Fide made an announcement, an incorrect one at that. Nothing official about a "post" on its home page made by an unknown source.
There is something kind of 'official' if the Fide website posts it lol.
