regardless, the point wasn't to prove that chess.com was the most popular chess site, but to merely contradict what you were saying about chess.com being "stuck in a quagmire of mediocracy" or whatever.
anyway, i will rephrase my statement about the popularity of Chess.com to be => "According to the top 3 web traffic monitoring agencies, Chess.com is the most popular chess-specific website in the world."

Well, normally I try to avoid entering these internet arguements (OK, that's a lie) but I feel the need to point out that Cheater_1 is contradicting himself. Let's look at a few facts.
- Cheater_1 has expressed his feelings about public opinion. Those feelings are, to generalize, he thinks very little of our judgement. (Or atleast it is strongly implied by, among other things, the fact that his caps lock key now seems to be jammed)
- Erik has said that chess.com is the #1 chess site. He has cited two sources, firstly, and least importantly, Alexa.com, which supports his statment. Secondly, himself. It is his own opinion, a subjective statement.
- In order to discredit Erik's statement, Cheater_1 looked to the people of whom he thinks so little. He tried compete.com which uses nothing but the opinions (expressed via visits) of the public. This is a clear contradiction. HIs only source is discredited by his own words, and cannot be taken seriously if used by him in a debate.
To sum up with a syllogism, Cheater thinks little of public opinion, Cheater uses the worth of public opinion as the basis for his entire argument. Therefore his arguement is hypocritical and cannot be taken seriously.
So if he was trying to discredit's Eri's statement, he would have needed either an objective method that somehow quantifies every aspect of the site for comparisons, or a subjective appraisal of this site, and any site he thinks is better, by either himself, or a neutral third-party. And only then could this debate be anything more than a oneside bit of troll bashing. Of course, so desperate to play the victim is he, he would probably never see it as anything else (And he might very well be right).
You say that Erik went down one notch in your "book". I'd like to see who was below Erik in your book and how you treat them.

cheater_1 against the world. It's how I like it, it's how I thrive, but I am now considering FORMALLY reporting ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR.
I feel many of the chess.com users have taken it ONE STEP further than I have. The users of this site have crossed the line. All I want to do is talk chess and play chess, but I am now being continually HARASSED wherever I go.
It seems to be in vogue to unload on me whenever you see me. Beat me into submission. I still am recovering from my vote chess loss and still want another game. But NO, it gets dangled in my face like a snickers candybar from a rope just out of reach of a very fat woman who is trying to lose weight.
I don't like the direction this is going. I want some respectful responses, some civility when I post a legitimate concern. My last post (my retrospective of my time here) was met with reponses worthy of 5th graders. UNACCEPTABLE!!!
I give the users of this site one more chance starting NOW. In the future, if my posts are not taken seriously or are met with ANGER, HATE, FLAMES, TAUNTS, I WILL single out those people and pursue harrassment charges.

These two statements are contrary to each other. Either you are here to play chess, or you're here to talk about your percieved issue... but the two statements are exclusive... you can't have one and do the other without contradicting yourself.

Take your posts seriously? Not gonna happen, not till you make a serious post anyway.
