Yes, remember. But I just wonder how much chess is just remember situations. I feel calculating happenings is more nicer than just automaticly remember situations. How much chess is remembering and how much calculating and extrapolate moves befohand? I'm just thinking...
Even watching on 1.5 speed this video was waaaaay toooo slooooooooooooow. Agony to watch
lolling little That slowness was the reason this was nearly first chess youtube video I could handle with my poor english. Enjoyable to watch for me
Calculation is very important of course, but it's the knowledge gained from lots of playing and studying that makes one player better than another.
If I played Carlsen, I'd probably calculate many more lines than him, and I'd probably calculate deeper in most lines too. One reason is simply because what Carlsen calculates will be more accurate. Moves I discover are bad by calculating them he would know without having to check. Another reason is his general knowledge will suggest to him where the pieces belong (unless I can make a huge mess of the position).
Yeah, I mean, how do you answer "how much" of chess is calculating. You can't calculate without using what you know, It all mixes together.
Oh I see.
Yeah, it's one of those things where the writer says something vague or even self evident and relies on the reader to give birth to an actual idea. Here I was counting on the misconception of "strong players are strong because they calculate deeply." And even though it doesn't answer his question, basically I was just trying to say that's false.
