Improvement rate

How fast did you improve? I've been playing seriously for about 4 months and have improved from about 500 to about 1200 on my higher account. I don't have coaching and learn by watching videos and streams. So how fast did you improve and am I improving at a good rate?

yes, ive been stuck at 1400 puzzle for 5 months and around 800 for a year or more

It depends. I've plateaued bad and then skyrocketed randomly. Definitely hasn't been linear for me, and I think I took a lot longer than most to get into 4 digits lets say

Was 1500 at the beginning of the year. I doubt I'll continue to see 300 improvement year after year unfortunately. I think all progrees is sort of logarithmic in nature

Thanks, I've been trying to find an answer to this for a little while and this was definitely the answer that I feel was the most useful since everyone is different.

Its been close to a year and I managed to reach 1600 blitz, I dropped a little yesterday, but it is fair to say I am 1600 strength no? I've been playing seriously since October 2019, in June, August, July and September I wasnt too serious about improving my chess

Often the improvement is there but not in the rating. Look at all the numbers and you'll see it. For example my rating has been around 1300 for months but my percentage accuracy is getting better and the average rating of my opponent has been steadily increasing. So I've been holding my rating against increasingly stronger opponents. The rating changes comes after the improvement.

The thing is that I have lost around 110 games by disconnection so I might be 1700 or 1800 strength, the way to know? If I reach it in the near future

I was stuck near the 900s when 10 min was still considered blitz, but when it split I went up to 1200s and I still had the same success. (This is on my other account that was mentioned above, since I didn't know that wasn't allowed)
