I know what every piece does and how they move. I just cant see moves more two plays out. Help me understand strategy,

Learn how to win games by checkmating the enemy king. That's the object.

Urk's advice may sound obvious, but consider getting a checkmate book like Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess or Reinfield's 1001 checkmate book.

When you can see the major threats it's a lot easier to look ahead and predict / plan moves. A decent place to start.

Use Tactics Trainer. I do 25 per day myself. If you want to do more each day google Tactics Trainer and you will find several other websites that have similar programs. Also I recommend viewing Dan Heismann's videos on ICC.
