inconsistent play

i just went from 1700 to 1450 in the span of less than a week. My play fluctuates wildly and I can not understand why.  Somedays I play 1600 level players and find the game easy. Other days I cant beat 1430. It tends to run in 2 week-1 month cycles.  And repeats. I dont have bad days, I have bad weeks.  I dont have good days, I have good weeks.

what is this?

When I lose 2 games in a row (happens often) I sign off and come back later.

Why beat a dead horse?

Back when I played a lot of bullet games, I would sometimes have days when I would keep losing everything and have my rating drop down to 1800s; some other days, I would be on the strike and make it to ~2200. It is normal, everyone has those days/weeks when it just isn't rolling, and the best you can do in such times is to take a short break.

it happens to everybody I like the advice given of logging off after two consecutive losses ,man I've definitely had some bad weeks

because rating is just a system and not a true reflection of your playing ability. Go unrated. you'll find much more challenging games there and more opportunities to learn.
