increasing 290 ratingpoints

I think two things:
1) You have increased.
2) The rating 960 was probably lower than your actual playing strength.

hmmm... intresting, 960 was the lowest i was, i lost game after game (i would have been lower if i kept playing) because i took a 5 month break from chess, so my rating kept decreasing. then i started training tactics and openings, didnt play for about a week, and if i did, it was 1 game a day, and i started increasing again ;)

Additionally, if you haven't played many games your rating will have more variability as the system tries to figure out your strength. As you play more games it will settle a little, and jump/drop less per game.
(It is also possibile that you are going through a chess "growth spurt.")

yes, but its not like i lost 2 games, im talking about losing 10 games winning 1-2 or something:p
tnx for your post :) lets hope its a spurt, i know myself i can attack alot better now the before and am able to calculate and defend much better then 2 weeks ago

I'm experienced something similar with another game called Arimaa. The first day I played my rating ended up at 1100 something. I didn't play again for about a month, and when I came back my rating immediately shot up to almost 1600. I don't understand how that happened, because I didn't even study over the break. Maybe the brain just needs a break to absorb all the information. I wonder if I should try a break from chess too.
Congrats on your rating increase, and keep on getting better.
