"Now if there will be poor service and lack of appreciation among all members including FREE members..."
Why do you think that?

OMG You know what irritates me about the Internet? That you have threads or topics of conversation about meaningless stuff and they can go on for pages!
Let me break it down for you:
If you like the look and feel and excellent functionality of chess.com, then BUY a MEMBERSHIP to support those webmasters who pour their time and effort and heart into this site.
If you don't care for it, then go to one of those other sites.
I guess, if you like pages and pages of crybaby threads like this one, then you should also purchase a chess.com membership but I bought mine because of my passion for chess, the excellent weekly and daily content of this site, not for the crybaby threads.
And what is up with that initial post? I mean that was "like", california modern day internet "valley" talk or something. I am American and I needed that translation by night_knight too (thanks night_knight).
messege for the chess.com guys:
Actually, I think it's good that some poeple complain about the membership option now...maybe the less serious players will get weeded out.
This makes no sense. What is your native tongue?
Looks like a choice has been given:
1) Accept limits and play for free; or
2) Purchase additional limits and get extra value.
I am willing to accept a fee for some premium services. Competitor websites charge fees of opening databases and use of their gamesite.
When I first came to this site rather recently, I was somewhat amazed that so many services were free. The first thing I thought was: This can't stay the status quo, either quantity or quality of services would have to go down, or there would be a fee at some time.
I am thankful I was to eat at the buffet table for free for over a month. Now I choose to pay to play.
KevinLovesChess and Fotoman, well said! :D
lu, please, I'm begging you, go out and make a chess site as amazing as this one and post the web address in this post. Oh, and you can't copy off of this site, because that would be cheating, since the staff couldn't do that when they made this site. It should have forums, chess applications, tools to help you improve, and a great community. Oh, and it needs to be free, too. And don't forget that you'll be spending four to six hours every day trying to fix the site and add new features. And work at your normal job to bring food to the table.
If you can do that, I will gladly acknowledge that Erik and his team had no right to start charging for extra services. However, since I highly doubt you can do that (and if you can, not for long), I stand behind Erik and his team 100%.
I'm an American, and I speak multiple languages. Also, I know non-Americans who speak only English. What point, exactly, were you trying to make?

I agree with silentfilmstar. Maybe in the area of America you live in, people only speak English, but in some areas, people actually learn to speak multiple languages. Several of my friends speak two, even three languages fluently. Personally, I'm only fluent in English, but I'm learning several other languages - Spanish, French, Japanese, and Russian.
I guess if that were meant to be a joke saying how stupid most Americans are, it could be funny, but you said it in the wrong context. I know that if someone said that to me while we were debating about how stupid the average American is, I'd laugh my head off. :D
night knight why did you come back under another user name instead of keeping the one you had when you left? I can see why people would find that suspect, maybe we should all just leave and then start over under a different user name erase all those bad losses.
Don't see the problem myself. Of course a site such as this would start off free, in order to establish itself and develop a user base. Nothing underhanded about that. Just good business. (Just common sense).
A man gets on a train, and for the first few stops enjoys a free journey. Sooner or later though, he knows the inspector will come along and he'll have to buy a ticket. For if the train is going to travel to new exciting destinations, it's going to require funds to do so.
Thanks and peace to all, Lu ps here is another emotion
