When I had registered here, my initial rating was 1200 across all formats. I don't think that it's fair to give these options because we guys had to work our rating up.
i dont think you can change your initial rating once you select it
and your glicko rd will be so high in your first games that it almost doesnt matter
if you rated yourself too low- winning your first few games will shoot you much higher
if you rated yourself too high- then you will plummet after first few losses
just play a ton of games and things will sort themselves out

When you registrated on Chess.com gave you different rating options, from begginer to expert. Once you finish the registration process, it is the rating you will have initially until you play and it changes.
I realize that winning raises your rating lol. I seen that some start off with 1800, so I was originally hoping I could avoid the grind in correspondence I unknowingly put myself in when I made the account.
