Invisible queen from O-O-O+

Hi everyone. I am pretty new to chess. Sometimes when l play chess on Bing Games the opponent’s king castles across an empty queen space and an invisible piece (queen or room) appears in the queen’s square and puts me in check. It drives me crazy. Is this a standard rule, or a feature specific to Bing? I have found no info about it online. Thanks.

No it’s not wrong or a glitch. It can happen sometimes if the rook ends up across from your king

It's the queen side castle.

It isn’t a standard queen side castle though. My king is on d1 and the black queen side rook doesn’t move. Black king moves from e8 to c8 and an invisible piece on d8 has me in check. I have never seen it before.

wait... invisible??????????

I really want to post the screen shot of the board. Does anyone know how to post images on this forum?

Without knowing how to post images on the forum, the only option was to set the screen shot as my profile picture, if that helps anyone see what is going on.

Yeah, that's messed up. Looks like Bing has gone boing.

Can you move that invisible queen next move? You shouldn't be able to move it like a queen as it should simply be the rook from a8.

Ok, it's the opponent's rook. You shouldn't be allowed to move it.

do you mean

if this is the case then it's a normal rule called queen-side castling.

To GingerNinja2003, no, the game I played did not happen like that. I played white, with my king on an open d file. Black had an open 8-rank and could castle to either side. His king went from e8 to c8. His queen side rook remained on a8. And on d8 appears a red line denoting check in Bing’s version of the game. But the originating square from which the check is made is empty. You can kinda make out the pieces in my profile picture. That invisible piece can make additional invisible moves and remains invisible. I am convinced it is a glitch in Bing’s version of the game.

I think what happened was that the rook moved to d8 but due to a glitch it didn't show that on the board so according to the server the rook went to d8 but you couldn't see that on the board. just a glitch nothing to worry about.
