Invitation only teams?

Hi every one :)

Wondering if there are invitational only teams for membership.

Sure there are some, what are the qualification or merit to do so?

Is there any importance involved in that kind of method?

And if any exists, I love to join in, especially if they have private forums or hobbies or some shared activities about any sensible range of topics :P
