Then you want to apply court standarts and give the benefit of the doubt.

The answer to this question is a resounding No. Rapid 10 min chess is not dying. You should remember that chess over the years has grown more in popularity. That means the number of players have increased. That also means more players who are new have also grown. Your increase is warranted simply because you have been playing the game longer than the new folks and the increase is a reward for your hard work.

A Ten minute game-irrespective of what it is called-actually requires a commitment to playing for 20 minutes. For many that is simply too much time in certain situations. Of course if you have prepared for a session of one or two hours it is fine. But, if you want to play at lunch, at halftime of the football game, or while waiting for your date to get ready, then blitz and bullet are better fits. I appreciate that chess.com gives us lots of options.

i do not believe that but what i believe is 15+10 is dead at 2100-2200 level you have to wait for 5 mins to get 1 match

No. Rapid pool has just inflated. I reached from 2000 to 2400 within 2 years (in an unnamed alt) . Ppl just blundered their pieces.

Who plays that at this rating? It's only for the noob kiddos who have to play using comfort.

10+0 is just not skillful enough in 15+10 you and your opponent play their best

It may not be dying, but it does smell bad.

Especially when mixed with Arena.

But let us recall that 10 min was once Blitz and not Rapid as has been noted in a previous post..

Except for the winner, who was sadly banned, not a rare happening, might I add.
