any rating is respectable as long as you have fun playing the game because you can always get better

@Ineffaceable that's mean. People spend lifetimes on chess and only get 1100. It is a sign of effort, and calling it average is mean tot he people that actually worked hard to get there. Maybe you are 1620 and feel like that is average, but 1000 is even above avarage.

I am neither but I understand how good 1100 or 1620 is

I consider 800 the lowest tier of "advanced beginner" so 1100 is definitely respectable IMO. If you are 800 you can probably easily beat most people who don't know much about the game.

Imo, I'd say it is

I agree with what u said about 1100 being above average because it is, but I find it hard to belive that people spend lifetimes on chess and only get 1100. If that´s actually true thats kinda crazy.

Well, I had a friend that started at 5 or so and got a bit past 1000 in his 30s and I think he stayed there when he got into pastor stuff. It is true, and many people don't put it as a top priority, so they get worse.

GF can get in the way of chess? Now I'm single. Have too many friends to spend time with? Make more on chess.com. No matter what you try, I can always put chess before it. That's how you get 1100 - you give up everything in the way. It's hard but rewarding.

Yes, 1100 is a respectable and well above average rating. The major percentile of players on this website is between 700-800. 1100 is certainly well above the majority

Above average, yes, absolutely, respectable? Thats up to you to decide

Many people over-confidently start at 1200 or 1600, so telling non-chess folks you are 1100 sounds low, but to chess players its respected.

I started at 100 and progressed to 1100 and I think it is a good rating
