guys i also have question, is 1488 is a good rating? considering the fact that i got it from 3 years of intense playing on this site.
It's definitely good, in the sense that it's higher than most people on the site and higher than most casual chess players will ever get to. You'll always look good playing casual chess when the opportunity comes up during life, and a lot of people will be very impressed.
If you're asking about future prospects e.g. whether a title is on the horizon for you someday... Honestly, probably not?
3 years of playing "intensely" as an adult to reach 1500 implies that you might have quite a tough journey if you would like to continue to improve further- yes it's better than most people can manage, but it's also quite a bit slower than your typical talented adult, and you'd be coming up against lots of those people in tournaments.
If you're 16 and played since you were 13 and very low Elo, it means you have a lot of time ahead of you and a neuroplastic brain, so with more efficient study you could still do quite well. On the other hand, it also means that your progress was even slower compared to most of the talented teens.
I'd say, be proud of your near-1500, and aim high! But just don't have GM on your bucket list or you'll end up disappointed because it's not realistic. It's not on my bucket list either.
there have been rare cases with untitled players at 2700 same as masters being 2100 or super low
there is a 1300 WGM playing the caro kann.
SHUT UP ABOUT THE CARO-KANN I DESTROYED YOU WITH IT YESTERDAY. anyway, my goal is to become expert or CM or NM, and I think 2200 is a great rating, online and OTB.
I am 12 years old.
