is a 370+ avg rating good for a 13 year old?

I'm a 13 year old who really like playing chess, although I occasionally do lose my confidence. Currently I have a rating of 400 but it's possible it may decrease over time. I'm mostly average on 360 or 370+.

Is this rating good for a 13 year old?

it is a bit low actually. but for how long have you been playing? do you know opening principles? do you know simple mates and endgame positions?

btw, why the hell a 13 yrs old using win98 logo as pfp?

@zes0460 I just like old Windows OS'.I've been playing for a couple of months.

Simple mates that I know of is the Scholers Mate. And Openings I know are The Queens Gambit. Ninsoswitch Larsen. The Rèti.

Not openings, opening principles. You need to learn opening principles.

And about mates; you need to know how to checkmate with a rook against a lone king. and with two rooks, with one queen, queen vs. knight and king etc... that kind of mates.. not scholar mate.

if you learn and practise these things your rating will go up to 1000 quickly.

It’s fine for a 13 year old who just learned how the pieces move.

Just knowing all of the rules got me to 900 easily.
