No, thats an average of +10 every day which imo is really amazing
Is a 600 elo improvement over 6 months slow?
An average could be, "analyze your games" but isn't enough, if you loose you should try to locate the critical/important moves that cringed you to advantage or disadvantage against your oponent
Also, try to search videos of coaches on YouTube and see them play, you might not understand at first, but maybe someone like Gothamchess maybe work
It’s amazing growth!! Tho u gained rating faster in the beginning, that’s only natural as quality of play increases
i mean im having a similar experience, starting late last year all my ratings shot up several hundred, then after january i started having issues improving, imo this improvement rate isnt bad, but i have 2 things to say. 1) Good reason you may have improved very quickly may be because (if you have the same reason as me) you had low amount of play before the rating shoot-up, so improvement outpaced rating gain. 2) its not terrible that you took 5 months to gain 100 rating points, in my opinion the players above 1400 rapid are significantly better than those below it, so initial rating gain becomes really difficult until you have improved sufficiently to be able to beat them. The playstyle after 1400 completely goes from "sac everything and hope its good" to "trade of everything and then use superior endgame memorization to win everyone" so if you are like me and don't memorize endgames, then it becomes harder to improve initially.
in other words, no, you are not slow, its normal. Do expect to not gain rating so quickly after a while though, as you go up rating gain naturally slows.

Bro calculated wrong
I think no because they are still learning because 6 months for 600 elo are better than most of people that are still at 300/400 elo even after long time of chess experience
It is always like that
gl on chess!
improvement gets harder all the time
my rapid elo graph is like that :

well getting 500 in one month is an amazing feat on its own. But you got stuck for five months, which means that you were not growing for half a year. That means you are doing something wrong, either you are playing while tilted or not focused, or you are not learning from the mistakes of ur games.
There is a difference between someone who gets 600 in six months when they average 100 per month, that is genuine improvement and that's great they are doing amazing. But when you get 600 points in six months by getting 500 in one month and 100 in five months, that basically means You are not improving at a good rate AT YOUR LEVEL (which is around 1500ish).
Dont be disappointed we were all there once, but my advice is that you investigate what the issue is and try to fix it, your improvement curve is not that good dont take praise from strangers who dont want to hurt ur feelings. Good luck you got this![]()
Hello everyone, I’m here to ask a chess improvement related question. I reached 1600 rapid recently, so I was looking back on my past 6 months chess journey, which the stats I’ll list below.
Starting in September last year, I began to grind chess in earnest.
I gained ~440 elo in the first month, going from ~1080 to 1540. Afterwards, I spent more than five months before finally reaching 1600 yesterday.
Over this period, I had a 50:4:46 W/D/L ratio, across over 1500 games.
Is this improvement speed normal or slow, and is there any way I can improve it?
Also, if anyone is willing to help me with chess for free, please tell me, I would appreciate it a lot! Thank you.
