Is anybodys rating even close to mine?

The absolute lowest rating I've seen posted on here is about 800, except for mine which is about 500.

In Online Chess there about 110 players with ratings under 600. To see a list, first go to Online Chess (under the Play menu), then in the upper right part of the screen, click View Players, then enter a min of 0 and a max of 600 and click Search.

Your profile shows that you still have a provisional rating of 1200 for blitz and you have not yet played online (turn-based) chess. What makes you think you have a 500 rating?

If you are that low-rated you have almost nowhere to go but up and it won't take much effort to move up.

I was going by the rating I usually end up with after working the tatical training problems.

Don't worry the tactical training problems are not a good gauge of your rating, especially in turn-based chess.  I am currently rated 1662 here, but I was under 1000 according to the "tactics training" program.  The reason is that the tactics training only gives you a short time (15 seconds, 30 seconds) to find the correct move.  Unless you are playing blitz chess, you will have more time to study the board and find the correct move.  It usually takes me a minute or two (at least) to study the board and find the correct move, hence my very low tactics training rating.

Mine hasn't improved much.

I would be thrilled if my rating got to 1000. I can't even imagine 1300...

When you've played as many games as I have, I'm sure it will be higher than 1300. Most peoples are.
