Well that got interesting. Sungolian calling people trolls when he has been slinging vitriol and abuse about. Funny stuff from some internet regulars (you know who you are). Selective failures to spot irony and wry humour. Others pointing out the completely obvious, over and over. God bless the internet.
Good job. Glad you could set us straight on that. Only one thing left to do to prove your point - delete all your prior posts and replace them with witty, urbane remarks. The trolls will all sure look stupid then.

I'm usually in the 1400's, I lost around 90 games to time-out when I lost my connection for a few days. The climb back from 1020 was good fun (though I got accused of cheating a few times!).

I do think that it would be nice to have a feature/settting that would allow a max number of vacation days but I like the feature. I am going on vacation this summer and not sure if i can make it to a computer every three days. With games lasting months predicting this sort of problem can be an issue.
Membership isnt that expensive and there are other great benefits so why not sign up? There is no such thing as a free lunch. The paying members support the free aspects of this site (advertisments help but they arent definite income)
You shouldn't get any fundamental in-game benefits just because you choose to give Erik your money, no. Out-of-game benefits (unlimited Tactics Trainer; Chess Mentor; Chess TV, etc.) are fine, but as many have pointed out, removing the burden of time limits just because someone has paid is very unfair. I predict that it will also never change, because it drives profits for the site.
There's an aspect of auto-vacation that I haven't seen mentioned that deepens the unfairness: To manually go on vacation, it must be your opponents move in all of your games... but auto-vacation allows you to continue all your games at a leisurely pace, in the full knowledge that you are protected from time-outs. You don't have to rush moves in any games just because you'll be out of contact for a week. I just took a few days vacation for a fishing trip, and in the process of making moves so that I could check the "vacation" button, I made a mistake (not an outright blunder, but definitely a sub-optimal move). Those with auto-vacation have the luxury of simply jumping on a plane.
Vacation should be applied equally; otherwise paying members are being given a competitive advantage. If you're on vacation in one game, you should be forced to be on vacation in ALL of them. If you move in one game, it should automatically end your vacation in ALL of them.
Anything else is unfair, and I see it as money-grubbing by the site. It's one of many reasons that this site will never see a dime from me.

I don't understand what the time control means, if my opponent can completely ignore it, but I'll lose if I exceed the 3-day time limit.
Well actually you won't cuz you are ALSO a premium member and have the same privilege of autovacation if you can't get online in time :)
