Bullet is technically chess, but it is mindless chess that basically is based off of how fast you play. However, I quite enjoy it! (even tho I lowkey suck lmao)

yes

Bullet isn't chess and many famous gms play bullet for fun, that's all. You can increase your chances of winning at bullet by making short moves. Move everything one or two squares only.

Bullet is chess, it's just a subcategory, it's kind of like asking if croissants are bread, yes they are, they're just different

They're pastry, not bread.

I've never played bullet in this incarnation here. I have a bullet rating, I think because something went wrong and I found myself playing a bullet game. At one time the rates of play were always getting mixed up here. Lots of glitches.

In my previous incarnation I was 2250 in Daily, which was about my limit for playing without too much analysis. I did try bullet one day. Played about 10 games and won about eight. I'd never played it before. I hit on the idea of making short moves and it was very effective. Obviously you have to be able to play that kind of game. but I never made long moves if I could possibly avoid it and I know that helped a lot.

lil bro you're 1400 bullet chess.com. I'm 2600bullet lichess. You think you're correct?

I've never played bullet as Optimissed. Never ever. That was some glitch where I was playing 5 mins and somehow it switched itself to bullet.

I did say that but maybe you don't bother to read people's posts but just talk down to people. You're wrong. Read my posts and all will be explained to you, about the place of bullet in chess.

Bullet is fast and furious chess.

I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who's looking to seriously improve (the time wasted playing bullet is time that could be better spent studying, or playing longer games where you're able to think deeper about your moves) ... but if you're looking for some sloppy, hectic fun, then bullet perfectly fits the bill.

Race two wheelchairs on a slalom course, at dusk, wearing dark sunglasses, swim fins, boxing gloves, clown noses, and sombreros.

There are large trap doors after every traffic cone on the course. All the trap doors drop open at the one minute mark. Below the trap doors, no, there is no tank full of piranhas. The door stays level, falls slowly, and holds your wheelchair upright.

At the bottom you are hit square in the face by a very large pie, and taunted by someone with a whiney voice and tape holding his eyeglasses together.

If you were the frontrunner or completed the course, (even if you plowed thru every traffic cone), the pie that hits you is smaller and they then wipe your forehead clean and rubber stamp it with the word "WINNER". Nobody taunts you. All the lesser beings speak in hushed voices, watching you in awe as you walk away.

"Was that a wheelchair race?" Well...... yeah, I mean, they weren't on bikes. "Did the stronger racer win?" Probably; stronger within the imposed parameters anyway. "But why the goofy arbitrary changes to the sport, anyway?" Hell, I dunno. Quit askin' me questions, kid. 🥧 🤡 🥧

chess is just remembering patterns and rules with a very small amount of creativity involved. The winner is the person who makes the least damaging mistakes. Bullet, if anything, is a purer form of chess than classical.

Avatar of Optimissed

Haha, only if it's defined as using only memory. You can try to wangle it but it only works with your definitions!

didn't I tell you I was 2500 bullet like 6 months ago? 2600 aint even that big. not even top 5000 or smth

Yeah people rated 2500 play more like an 800 than a 3000. People like magnus and hikaru play the game in a different way
