Yes, especially with added time
Is Bullet Actually Chess?
I personally dont play Bullet because Im not good enough and not fast enough, but I'd say yes it is.
its for the people with M´s in the name, IM´s , GM´s, WFM´s , NM´s etc., everything below is just rolling dice with a minimal amount of control, equals timewaste, although its fast ..... probably its even worse for the people that dont even know how to Mate with 2 queens
Chess existed before chess clocks. Whatever the dividing line is. Chess is a game where attention is on the board position and occasionally you consider the clock. If attention is mostly on the clock and occasionaly board position might be glanced at but never studied. Then that is whatever game you want to call it. They may have the same rules. But the sky is blue and so are my pants. That doesnt make the sky therefore my pants. If it floats peoples boat bullet is fine. Just stay in bullet. Don't bring it to my board claiming you wanted a 45 min chess game.
*Probably just not good at it* is the ultimate defensive copout for just about anything. Most people are not good at something because ummm...they don't want to be? Most serious chess students don't want to be good at bullet. The Masters only do it because they have little way to get better than they already are. They arent trying to set an example. Anyway as far as the original question heres a cute little test. Get two bullet punks going at 2/1 or whatever. About 25 moves in. Now freeze the game and take the board away! Ask them to recreate the position thier pieces were. They would jus say oh i had exactly 17.3 seconds. They be all over that. I would bet 10000 dollars neither could put the pieces back where they were! Probly not even close LMAO. That's the test of whether its bout chess or abt clock. 🤣 Im done with this thread have a nice life.

I think it’s very possible for two to recreate their position. I would gladly take your 10k from your “cute little challenge”, thank you very much
Obviously I’m speaking from a different pov compared to the average “bullet punks” that you may have seen or ones around your elo. When you say bullet is not chess, this implies that there needs to be enough time to play the game. This raises the following questions: is blitz actually chess? , is 10 minute rapid chess actually chess? , is your 45 minute games actually chess? And so on
Bullet is a fun way to challenge the intuition and fast calculation. It helps me with my intuition and moves stick out to me, although I understand it may not help you or others.
Just because you don’t want to get better at speed chess doesn’t make it not chess. The same chess rules apply.
And whatever you said about the sky and your pants being blue, made no sense, but you do you.

Well, in a serious match, this situation ( playing several moves in one or two seconds) can occur. So, this one percent moves can become decisive in a 3 or 4 hours match.
Neverthless I think this relevant only in this case, not when the whole match is in a hurry.
