Is Chess a balanced game?

Sort:

Whoever invented chess, did he ever think about how balanced the game is? Why is there a castling move? Why not invent a new move in chess? Or a new piece?

Do the White side have advantage because he starts?

If two players of the same skill level in everything, who will win? And why?

I myself am not a skilled chess player but I love playing and watching chess. I do not know if these questions make any sense to you but they have been bugging me for a while whenever I think about chess.

1.Yes, but only a slight advantage.  Black eventually equalizes with best play.

2.Chances are it's a draw, but can go either way.

3.Humans are trichromatic creatures and have blue cones.  The blue (and to a lesser extent green as a little green is needed for sky blue) is what people perceive as the sky molecules scatter far more blue light than others.  Also humans lack sensitivity above around 700nm so the near IR colors that are mixed in are invisible, leaving just blue.

4.Certainly, there's video footage, documentation, and everything so yes man did walk the Moon.
