Why do people think chess is a beautiful game ?

I do not know.I am finding a more beautiful game for many years,but didnot find it.Weiqi is as beautiful as chess.

When players say "it's a beautiful combination", or "I think chess is beautiful" - well, I don't get it. I can see it being somewhat beautiful if you beat a computer....but another person...hey, they can get angry at you, at themselves, frustrated, etc. I don't find that beautiful for them.

Because most of 30 moves + games are unique.

I guess I'm just getting sick and tired of hearing that "Chess is a beautiful game !". And I understand MCS157 that most 30+ games are unique and that, like painting, they're all unique. I just think beautiful is the wrong word - BY FAR.

Yes its beautiful knowledge destroys beauty and stll planst the seeds for new beauty. Chess is awesome

Why do you think that? Do you think calling a painting or a song beautiful is weird? Do you think it should only apply to people maybe?

I don't see the problem really, why don't you like that word related to chess?

yes im fine.....I guess i just feel bad for the losing side - esp when they look dissappointed. Everyone has been making really good points  - but im just having trouble getting over the losing side calling it beautiful. when noone loses, like painting or sculpture, then to me thats beautiful. BUT, i DO think chess is romantic.
