Chess is a sport, even if a lot of people will never accept it.
Is chess a sport?
Yes, do you have any reasons for this? (Just so I can protect my case if people say chess is not a sport)

I don't consider chess a sport.
If chess is a sport then basically anything we do in life should be considered a sport as well.
A doctor has never said "You are in bad physical shape, you need to do some sport. Try playing chess 30 minutes a day, 3 times a week"
"What do you like to do?"
"I am really into sports! I play chess every day"
"....Ok"

lol
it's not a question if people accept treating chess as a sport, it's a question of a perspective looking at chess.

I would like to have a doctor that tells me this xD
So, I'm doing a homework project about any sport. So, as I consider chess a sport, I'm choosing it.
Although I'm looking for public opinion just so I can see what people think about whether chess is a sport or not. Everyone feel free to share their opinion on this forum.
My argument: Chess played professionally forces players to concentrate extremely hard on calculating all of the variations for up to 8 hours at a time, with very scarce amounts of refreshment. Players must be both physically and mentally strong to keep up a complete state of concentration for such an amount of time.
