Is chess a sport?

According to some definitions of 'sport' it is and according to others it isn't. It doesn't really matter though, the only question you need to answer to justify playing it is 'Do I enjoy it?'

nonono like if last score is 1-0 and you say no then 1-1 if somebody says yes then 2-1 and so on
so right now 2-1

4-1
6-1
Because chess is very physically demanding at the professional levels and even on the amateur levels but not as impactful
so 6-2 now

My biggest bemusement over this continual question is why on earth anyone cares. Chess is what you make it. It can be a banana if you want it to be in your world!

Ffs this conversation was still going on 5 years ago when I left chess dot com, it’s not a sport but if you think it is keep that thought to yourself, nobody cares.
