Is chess a sport?

Why can't anyone agree on one simple answer. If it's competitive, it's a sport! It doesn't have to be physical, Rubik's cube solving competitions require little activity, so does chess. People say cubing is a sport! Why isn't chess, then?

Shakespeare.

It means the nature of a thing is not defined by its name. If you call a rose a truck it would still smell good and be beautiful. In short, I'm saying the name is unimportant. Call chess a truck. It doesn't change a thing.

Yes, some people

But majority don't and it isn't an "official sport", if it was it would probably be in the olympics.

Sports is a physical competition, where there is a clear winner ifI am correct

That is why there are E-sports, not a "sport" as there is no physical activity, but its an electronic sport, which is it's own criteria. So if anything chess is a board game sport, but not an actual "sport"

Sorry if I'm being annoying, correct me if I'm wrong btw

Idk man if they consider snooker a sport then why not. In essence it depends how much you want to stretch the definition of sports, you can widen it to include card and board games or narrow it down to exclude martial arts, archery or anything to do with vehicles.

But like the person above said who cares, it doesn't make any difference what so ever.

Chess is a game ( as you need to beat an opponent).

Rubik cube is a sport ( you dont need to beat  an opponent).
