You could, but because two of the most important characters in chess are explicitly gendered (King=Male, Queen=Female) it's inevitable that our own attitudes towards those archetypes will inform some part of our relationship with chess.
And probably because of this many casual players don't believe that there can be more than two queens on the board...

To Freud everything was about sex, and a personality was pretty much set in stone by age 5 or 6.
He was a nut job coke addict, but basically came up with the idea of the unconscious so, you know, sort of founded modern psychology so he's worth an historical footnote or two, but not much beyond that (because yeah, all the specifics are crazy).
