Is Chess completely logical?

If all humans were born with flawless logic, and I don't mean the high levels of intelect achieved by the greats but completely flawless, then would we play more that one game of chess?

This is what I call the 'if' game. Its a nice game but it generally leads nowhere.

Computers have flawless logic but they are up against clossal numbers so they have to select after a certain depth of search. However they will always solve mate problems by simply looking through the total number of combinations.

I can play the game as well.

If a huge computer had unlimited time how long would it take to complete a game of chess?

It's true that 'if' games as you put it tend to lead nowhere. However that does not mean that that nothing is gained by contemplating the problem (Maybe?). But what I was more asking is, would every game of chess be the same? For example would the huge computer, having calculated all the possibilites always lead with e4?

Even though it would take a practically infinite amount of time to reach that conclusion (the number of possible permutations multiplied by the time to process one permutation).

It`s true that computers are monsters when it comes to calculation, but put a computer up against another computer and you begin to see the flaws. I think the root of your question is can flawed human beings make a flawsless game, and the ansewer to that question is no!! And even if humans where perfect as you also imply I think the game would still be played because we would want to know the ansewer to your question. Just because we would be capable of doing huge calculations doesn`t mean the ansewer would just come to us in every occasion if at all, we would still have to do the work.

Chess is probably a draw. It could play any move that doesn't lose. Which one probably depends on the algorithm, for instance it might always play the non-losing move that comes first alphabetically.
