The lie is that non-chess threads suppress chess threads. A thread like this doesn't involve all that many people in the first place (what have there been, maybe 15 different members posting, out of how many active members?), and anyone lurking and reading along is doing so by choice. It's not like if this thread didn't exist the same number of "proper" chess posts would have instead been made in it's place and were winked out of existence because people posted here.

This started as a proper chess post. I don't know how it ended up as it is but certain posters have really spoken volumes about themselves...
I don't know about it being a "proper" chess post. Honestly, I didn't really understand post #1...nor do I quite get the title. What's it all mean? I have no idea really (as happens so often around here with posts). But we got to see a couple fights, so at least that livened things up a bit.
