I think it's a tough game because it gives me mental tension.
As Karl Pilkington says - more chess moves than atoms in the universe- it puts you off learning it ...
It's easy to learn the rules of chess but it's difficult to play it.
Easy to play, difficult to master.
Hard to quit playing
