The only thing I can say is: :|
Is Chess from the future?
Hey Katrina! Congrats on your 151 account!! Many people have been lookin for you gurl
You don't know chess isn't from the future.
If you knew it for a fact you could prove it.
The best thing you can say is you have not seen any evidence chess is from the future, but it might be from the future.
i question the primitive claim ,these are folk who mastered arithmetic architecture ,language written and verbal ,built flourishing civilisations ,throughout our earth we see how pre western civilisation so many civilsations ,excelled beyond what we viewed as possible for them ie
nice question tho drew me to your forum
I don't want to get side tracked on what primitive people were or were not capable of or a what point in time that people should no longer be considered primitive.also we should incnolege that chess has evolved considerably since its earliest know forms. However there is evidence that there was a lot of knowledge and probably technology that seem to defy common knowledge of what very old cultures should have had access to. So I do have a question: why do you feel time travel is more likely than alien contact? Where a lot of people would not believe either to be possible. I actually completely disagree it's simply logical that there is almost certainly alien life forms out there and they could have accomplished space travel (we did) but time travel at best is only a possible theory at this point.
But, since the resident genius, fiveofwands, states that Europe created chess, which is complete contrary to all scholarly research, then the explanation can be only one of three things: 1. Time travel is involved in some way which obscures our (anyone who is not fiveofwands) understanding of it. 2. Aliens. Or, 3. Five of wands has no idea what he is saying and is likely saying these things as a complex and as of yet hardly understood form of Epic Trolling. (Chess was invented in India circa 8th century by humans) We humbly await the wisdom of fiveofwands...
I hope you are young. I don't expect to live that long.

There's a problem with this theory... They surely would know about chess in the future, meaning if they sent it back to the past, then the reason we have Chess is because it was sent from the future by people who already had it from when it was sent from the future by people who already had it from when it was sent from the... It leads to no original source whatsoever, Chess exist because... Chess exist. It's like John Connor and The Song of Storm. Time travel is confusing, man...
The Europeans were too primitive to invent it. It was most likely invented by the 15th century South Americans. The Inca were an incredibly advanced society.

Well you are a dog... ;-)
And I introduced pre-chess to Europe in 822. I am an old dog.

The astute historian will notice, of course, that if not for the Muslim conquest of Spain and the exposure of Europeans to civilization via the Crusades, the tribal peoples of Europe might be uncivilized still. Of course, without the changes wrought by these impatient peoples in the game that I brought to Cordoba in 822, chess would not exist today. European civilization and chess itself stands on the firm foundation of Christians stealing from Muslims.

Chess is too sophisticated to have been conceived and developed by the primitive peoples of its time. Of course, the notion that aliens brought the game of chess to humanity is absurd. More likely, Chess was the gift of time-traveling humans.
