Chess and othet games are antidepressants. Life is not fun, wonderful like many thought. Physical sports work too but needs muscle relaxants afterwards.

that was kaspy's opinion.

not mine.

if it was, why would us low rated guyz even play?.  its not like we are showered with money or praise.

nope. friend.  I was just talking to my authentic Color photograph of Galileo Galilei-- and I said.

"Gal!  Playing chess is good fun!, you should have done more of that! and less of defying the all-powerful dictators of the your era."

I swear he nodded yes when I said it.

I myself was just enjoying a glass of merlot while absently staring at the oil painting of Boris Spassky that hangs above my mantle and suddenly realized that my chess pieces are in serious need of polishing

I play chess not for money not for fame I play because I want to know that how far I can go in this game... what I have achieved it is more important than anything.. one more reason, it takes deep study to become a good player which I take as challenge.. and I love challenges... this is the game which you can play at any age...

sounds like an existential crisis and that youre going a tough time right now. with enough practice and your apparent dedication (a framed photo of greco!!), youll master chess. its an amazing game that advances your logical skills and way of thinking. no way youve been wasting your time! just stay strong, be positive. bad things make good things better c:

Thanks for the encouragement. You're right if I just persevere I know that one day Ruy Lopez de Segura and Gioachino Greco will be smiling in the chess heavens.

I doubt that you have an oil painting of Boris Spassky. I also doubt that you have actual chess pieces. What needs polishing is your attitude.

Oh look...2q1cs best friend rides in on his white horse, how cute. Doubt away, what you believe or not doesn't affect me in any way. Thank you for your opinion though, I'll take it at its full worth. 😂😂😂

You've obviously come to derail another thread. I guess its your job as a troll. But I won't be giving you any fire that you trolls feed on. Consider yourself extinguished.

I'm guessing this is some crude insult used by the uneducated.

Very poetic.

Anyone see the poll on who is the biggest troll here, I think Vlad tied for 1st place. Come on Vlad, as someone voted biggest troll, you can do better with the insults...

Show me this "poll" because I don't believe you. I think everybody here knows I'm here for serious and intellectual chess discussion. Don't make up data to satisfy your theories. Look through my threads. None of them are trolls.

My mistake, it wasn't you that's the biggest troll, it's the guy you're defending. My bad.

Well, there are some noobs here that actually think they are on their way to become a high level pro.

I am not talking about the one who says is the future world champ, but about the people that ask "How long it will take for me to become a GM? I do 1 hour of tactics a day and I play about 10 games everyday"

Speaking of a noob, as I am one myself, would you consider a rating of 1500 be a rather realistic goal for a bad player? I wish I can say I don't care about the rating, but I am keep checking to see when, if ever, I will be a decent player.

1500 is a very very realistic goal.

I personally think that for a person who does not want to become a professional, even 2000 is a very realistic goal.

Of course it will take a lot of time and hard work to get there though.

Everybody here knows that I'm a chess philosopher. "The guy" I'm guessing is 2Q1C, who I can't figure out why is labelled as a troll for the life of me. As I said before, the man has done more for Intellectual chess debate than most people on this website combined. If talking about chess on a chess website is trolling, then I guess all us chess aficionados are trolls.

0.          what is a philosophical experiment ?

DEF

1. something useful to stand the struggle for life

AND

2. something helping in checking if a philosophical concept is useful, operates, or useless :

3.   * examples :

3.1 collective , global

socialism which never worked as utopia, metaphysics which may be useful for certain believers, " social laboratories " sovkhozes and kholkozes, "workers coop" here in France, which today are in museums, were philosophical experiments on a collective basis.

3.2

On an individual basis, u find mystics in Avila mode, experimenting beliefs, soufis, monks and hermits, gurus, zen ppl etc ...

Does chess have to do with those experiences, with philosophy ? well, difficult to say yes, better to consider it is :

- a game 1/3, an art 1/3, a science 1/3,

-  and the last 1/3 as a sport, imho.

nb : concerning trolls, mute them, pb solved. Successful experiment.

interesting thread ty OP.
