Is Chess popularity dying off in New Jersey?

New Jersey is still one of the best states for chess.
I have noticed here in northern New Jersey a couple of chess clubs have either disbanded or have cut back on the number of meetings and tournaments they offer.
The chess club in Hackettstown no longer runs any ads in Chess Life as well as the club in Fair Lawn. The Fair Lawn club pops up here and there, but they used to run bi-weekly tournaments.
