Is chess RACIST or UNIMPROVED?

Not my first topic, lets say that. It's discriminatory to have to put a country. You then get annoyed because your in the enemy country in WWIII. Chess has stayed the same for ages, the only improvement is different types of games and different looking pieces.

The current rating system is bad, CAPS is better but you need a membership to see it. It should auto show you your CAPS scores during your game. If someone pretty good keeps fighting pros he will never get a correct rating, like me. But if they used CAPS scores during/after games and then depended your new rating on that, everyone would be happier because it shows your true score.
Even FIDE should stop using that. To get a rank, they should have you face an opponent and then calculate the CAPS score. Dang, I faced lvl 6 computer and got 95.48 (2350 rating) for my moves!

Anyways, most of the people who play on this site don't have perfect internet. Disconnected after poor internet status? Stop the dang timer! Had perfect internet most of the game but left after a losing position? Get that ban hammer in the closet!

So Chess.com really needs to improve. So does chess itself. It doesn't have to stay the same for centuries.

Improve chess? Can you say how?

The same for centuries? In what finalised in the 1800's... (Mainly.)

Change for the sake of change is silly.

I don't get annoyed when a player comes up Fromm er many, simpel because of a war fought 70's years ago by (most likely) people two generations older then him who just happenend to be born in the same land mass as he was.

And for some reason I can edit the actual words, so *simply and *happened. And I meant cannot earlier in this sentence. For some reason my iPad refuses for me to change words. Don't know why.

Make demands all you want.

Back up those demands with helpful suggestions, however, and people will take you seriously.

Anyway, why are you offended by people who fought against the land mass you just happen to be born into- your Irish.

Ireland being one of the neutral countries in Europe at the time.

Ireland is as much Europes backyard now as it is the UKs.

Yet it had no enemies as such, or at least the south didn't.

Weren't there some German ones who tired to bring in weapons to Ireland to support a rebuilt an revoutliom? This happened in the 1st world war, wouldn't be surprised if it happened in the second, to.

That's a weird view point. Why does it matter if you have to put your country. I never had problems in the short time I've been here and also in real life were I met many players from different countries. We talk to eachother and enjoy the game. If a chess game can connect two people from different countries even if the past of their contries isn't so pleasant than chess is a game which doesn't need improvement.

Regarding the rating system I can't say much. I'm new here and I don't know what an alternative would be and what advantages would be there if we uses it.

Take care and all the best!

Just make England your city.... Problem solved.

I am proud to be an American, and to fly my country's flag over my half of my chess table.  This doesn't mean that I support our current administration; I (and a >3 million majority of other voters) voted for the losing candidate, but we have a funny thing here that I call the Electrical College, and it's founded in our Constitution, and it isn't going away in my lifetime.

I see that you are Irish.  I have many Irish friends IRL, and the utmost respect for your culture, music and women; your food, not nearly so much.  If my father's generation here hadn't intervened in the early 1940s, you would have written your comment in German.

Nobody has a perfect internet connection.  If you think that the best internet connection in Ireland is bad, you can start your own satellite-based ISP.  There will be a quarter-second lag per move due to the constraint of c, which nobody here can help you with, and it has occurred to me to ask the question on this forum whether or not it gives me an unfair advantage over those who are further away from chess.com's servers.  My relatively bad blitz rating demonstrates that people in Antarctica, or the Moon, have a fair chance to beat me.

@ed1975, your statement is true insofar as the USSR laid down more corpses to stop the Reich, and, I agree, largely won it for the Allies, but there was only one country in the world that had the resources and capability to administer the final checkmate, and I am unwilling to discuss the level of Stalin versus Roosevelt/Truman/Eisenhower evil that happened after that.
