DUH ITS GREAT FOR YOUR BRAIN
Is Chess Really Good for Your Brain?

Dementia can be caused by genetics, aging...who knows, maybe even too much chess.
You live in Greenland? I've never been there...
dementia (also) for the soul of the "disease"
There is single therapy dementia:
TRAINING THE MIND
I think chess is good training

The chemistry of nature is not influenced by chess. It is not because you play chess that you will remember the face of your children.

Everything you do in life has an influence on your whole body, your physique, your brain, your metabolism, your personality, your state of mind, etc key is variaty not overkill.

What is my children are named for chess pieces.

What if my children are named for chess pieces.
haha, "Knight! Its your turn to wash the dishes. Now zigzag over to that sink. I said, Now!"
"King, I'm about to 'check' your homework. You'd better take some evasive action. Pronto!".

When I look at the general level of intelligence expressed in chess fora on several playing sites, I am convinced that chess is harmful to human intelligence. But, then, I compare these fora to what I read on Facebook and in the opinion pages of several newpapers, and it is clear that chess raises the general level of human intelligence.

When I first started to read this post, I felt dumber. Then, as I continued reading, I started to feel smarter. Much smarter.
It was a good investment of 4 hours.

I don't think you can understand Ziryab's post, except at an intuitive level, via a quick reading.
Go through it slowly, trying to guess the next word by covering it up. Then at each word, stop and explore what would happend if other words were there instead.
"When I look at the general?..."
Instead of general? here, instead specific!
The sentence might continue...
"...specific! rates of brainpower bloviated in the chess marketplace of ideas..."
Do this for about 10,000 posts and it will improve your post making abilities. It worked for me, obviously.

It's not chess that has caused the harm you refer to. Btw, I still read the op-eds.

Chess is a process of deduction, has a defined axiom, and priori, we humans make incorrect assessments, however chess will be solved one day.
