I believe Bridge is

Define hard.  It could be a relative definition for an individual or it could be the pursuit of perfection.  Chess is not harder than go.  That game is incredibly crazy.

bomtrown

never tried bridge. tried go on yahoo games. WTF? i just can't understand it.

Life is the hardest game! Cool

One thing about chess though is it's only as difficult as to the strength of your opponent.

Depends on what you mean, but Chess sure is easy to learn, alot harder to master though.

keepin the wife happy is by far the hardest game ever invented, and before you disagree, try and keep mine happy for more than a day :-)

I find snap quite difficult.

I think the hardest game is acually just part of an existing game. More specifically, the hardest game -component- is the "Star Performer" deck in the early version of Cranium. Nobody knows the songs OR the celebrities! :U

Serious note - I'd agree that chess is only as tough as your opponent.

If chess is only as tough as your opponent then the same can be said for any game. Imagine you playing Basketball against Michael Jordan, he would find it very easy to crush any of us so any game you play be it chess bridge or any other is only as tough as the opponent you are facing.

Paper rock scissors.

Probably not as hard as shogi, but still very hard. Of course now I don't really find chess hard, just very complex but I usually understand what I'm doing. But this took me years of playing the game. Shogi to me looks even harder though partly because I can't tell the difference between all the pieces! But the fact that you can put captured pieces on the board seems to add a lot more depth.

I think Go is the hardest game because the calculations must be made way beyond any chess GM. So many possibilities on a Go board and according to people I know who play, they say calculating anything less than 5 moves deep is considered a poor player.

Chess just comes naturally! :)

Dimseven

chess is not the hardest game

its not even hard

its quite simple so simple that children play it

its just complex

I think checkers is the hardest game, there are SO many complicated moves. And having to take their pieces just throws me off. Don't Ban me I'm just kidding :)

chess is the hardest game because it keeps evolving and not even computers are 100% accurate or else they would win every game.  It is impossible for me or any professional chess player to win every game unless....  you create your own book with picture of position and write down how exactly you won or lost the game on how you gambled.

Examples of gambles in chess

1) a rook exchange for 2 bishops

2) a rook exchange for a bishop and a knight

3) a queen exchange for 2 rooks

4) a queen exchange for bishop and knight

5) a queen exchange for bishop and rook

6) a rook exchange for 2 pawns that are on open files

7) a rook sacrifice for stalemate

8) a gambit at opening risk for development

9) when to move king in end game and where depending on position

10) how to force stalemate

11) moving each move fast to save up clock in 10 minute game

12) moving slowly the first 25 moves in a 10 minute game

13) a knight exchange for bishop

14) a bishop exchange for knight

15) a bishop exchange for rook

the answers.......

Well depending on position and how many pieces you have left, all these exchanges can help you win or lose a game if you know from expierence and position on when to do these exchanges and how to play them out.

 good answer
