Question for expert chess players. 2,000 and up. How many hrs a day do you put into staying and getting better? Is it worth it?
I crossed 2000 chess.com rapid rating several years ago. I used to put way more time into chess back then compared to what I do now. However, I'll say it is worth it for the right player.
Investing this much effort into chess isn't for everyone, but it is worth it for me because chess is one of my hobbies (that's right, I have many other hobbies I excel at too) and I enjoy the journey. Chess improvement is fun for me. Well, it can also be a struggle, or even a grind at times; but, overall it is still a net positive to my life and that's why I continue to enjoy playing chess.
If someone else doesn't enjoy chess, then investing this much time and effort into chess improvement probably isn't worth it for them. The question becomes, "Is it worth it for you?" The answer is something only you can decide for yourself.
